Cebu City - It was announced recently by Department of Labor and Employment - Region VII (DOLE-7) Regional Director Elias A. Cayanong that the Cebu Royal Plant Employees Sales Force Union - AWATU received a total of SIX HUNDRED THOUSAND PESOS (P600,000.00) livelihood for their income augmentation project on October 4, 2010 at the Department of Labor and Employment, Regional Office No. 7, Cebu City.
Together with the DOLE-7 Officials and staff, the officers and members of the union-beneficiary accepted the check for a home-made pizza franchise. As a start, they will hire at least six(6) family members for the project located in Barangay Centro, Mandaue City.
Mr. Richard Angtud, CRPESFU-AWATU President, acknoledged how the fund assistance will help their goal to raise the income of their members and family members. He said, "We promise to take care of the new business venture."
We expect them to earn more now that they have an income generating project. It will now develop their entrepreneurial skills, at the same time, they can provide jobs for their unemployed family members," said DOLE-7 Regional Director Elias A. Cayanong.
Director Cayanong further explained that, "We invite those who belong to labor unions and workers associates in different establishments to avail the assistance and become entrepreneurs. The Workers Income Augmentation Program (WIN-AP) is the anti-poverty program to encourage and support labor union or workers association engage income generating projects."
