Press Releases
Two regular holidays in June

Cebu City, Philippines. June 5, Eid’l Fitr and June 12, Independence Day are declared regular holidays.

Workers reporting to work on June 5 and June 12 will be paid 200% of their daily wage for the first eight (8) hours. If they did not work on said days, still, they would receive 100% of their daily wage subject to certain conditions.

DOLE-7 Regional Director Salome O. Siaton said for workers to avail said regular holiday pay, they should be present during the last working day prior to the holiday. If they were not, she added, their leave of absence should be with pay.

For work done in excess of eight (8) hours or overtime work, workers should be paid an additional 30% of their hourly rate on said days.

Another computation is to be followed, Director Siaton explained, for work done during a regular holiday that also falls on the worker’s rest day. In this case, she said, workers should be paid an additional 30% of their basic wage of 200%.

For work done in excess of 8 hours or overtime work during a regular holiday that also falls on the workers’ rest day, they should be paid an additional 30% of their hourly rate on said day.

Labor Advisory No. 8-19 issued by Acting Labor and Employment Secretary Renato L. Ebarle provides the rules for pay indicating additional take-home pay for workers, who will be reporting to duty on June 5 and June 12.

The issuance of said Advisory is pursuant to Proclamation Nos. 729 and 555 issued by the President on 28 May 2019 and 15 August 2018, respectively.
